But what if they’re right about you?

Hey Treasures! Has anyone ever seen something in you that you’ve not seen yourself? Yea, me too! Lol. Here’s how I started out as an event host back in 2015.

I was always selected to do anything that has to do with talking in front of an audience. Sometimes by default because according to people around me, no one else had “the personality” and confidence I had. It wasn’t something I knew from the get go that I was excellent at, but rather it was something I was thrown into and I realize that I have a love for it. People enjoyed it after, so that’s a plus right?
It was a performing arts company I was a member of that opened my eyes to this gift. The leaders assured me that I got it and it’s in me. I mean, I know I want to host tv shows and radio programmes, but to be an actual emcee, I didn’t think I could do it. Well, I did it, and they had me host the second show of the night too.
I can recall being called upon suddenly one night to emcee a wedding reception, it was a couple I had not even met yet. I have never done this before – emceed a wedding reception. But the individual who asked me to do it had total confidence that I could do it. She used words like, “you’re funny and you can talk”. With hesitance, I accepted this invitation. Today, I am happy I did. That invitation was the first of many!
Sometimes we limit our own gifts, putting boundaries and deciding what we can and cannot do. So glad I decided to cross those boundaries. Undeniably, the thoughts of not being good enough, “there are many people in the market”, and “what if I’m not supported”, will come but those hurdles I am willing to cross as they come.
What is that thing you keep talking yourself out of doing because of fear of not being good enough, the market being populated etc? I saw a post a few years ago in my preparation season that said something like, “If God called you to it, there is space for you in the market, even if it seems over populated”. Friends, there is space for your gift. Your gifts will make room for you. Step out!
