Have you ever met a believer who seems to be “seeking deliverance” every week? They attend prayer meetings, line up at the altar, and even travel far and wide for someone to “set them free.” Yet somehow, they never feel truly free. The cycle repeats: deliverance, bondage, and deliverance again.
But here’s the truth; according to Scripture, deliverance is not a cycle; it is a completed work in Christ. When Jesus died and rose again, He didn’t provide partial freedom that needed constant renewal. He secured a once-and-for-all deliverance that every believer can walk in daily.
Let’s walk through what the Word says.
1. Jesus Paid the Full Price—Once and for All
“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.”
—1 Peter 3:18 (NIV)
Jesus didn’t die repeatedly, and we don’t need repeated deliverance. His death on the cross was a full and sufficient sacrifice. With one act, He brought us into right standing with God and broke the power of sin, Satan, and death. Nothing more needs to be added.
2. You Have Already Been Delivered from the Kingdom of Darkness
“He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son.”
—Colossians 1:13 (ESV)
Notice the tense: “He has delivered.” It’s already done. As believers, we are no longer under the dominion of the enemy. We’re not waiting for deliverance; we’re living in it.
3. You Are a New Creation
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
—2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)
Deliverance is tied to your identity. At salvation, your old self died with Christ, and you became new. So, what are we trying to “deliver” if the old has already passed away?
4. The Son Has Set You Free; You Are Free Indeed
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
—John 8:36 (ESV)
This freedom is not partial, temporary, or fragile. It’s not something you “top up” weekly. When Jesus sets you free, the key is not in seeking freedom again but in walking confidently in the freedom you already have.
5. Resist, Don’t Re-deliver
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
—James 4:7 (ESV)
The enemy’s strategy is deception, not domination. Too many believers chase deliverance when the real need is renewal of the mind (Romans 12:2) and firm resistance through God’s Word. Deliverance has already happened; now the call is to stand in victory.
Walking It Out
Friend, you don’t need to chase what Christ has already secured. Instead of seeking “another deliverance,” lean into discipleship, prayer, and renewing your mind in the Word. That’s where lasting transformation takes place.
This week, choose to walk boldly in the freedom Christ has already given you. When the enemy tries to whisper lies, remind him of this truth: “I have been delivered. I am a new creation. I am free indeed.”
Deliverance is done—now it’s time to live in dominion.

Amen
