Seek Ye (God) First‼️

Main Scripture: Matthew 6:33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

The English definition of "seek" is to attempt  to find. The word "seek" in hebrew means to search out by any method. It further goes on to say that the word "seek " supports God's desire to be found. To seek something is to crave after it.

The Word of the Lord in Matthew 7:7 states "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." If you are seeking God you are sure to find Him.

Matthew 6:33 was spoken by God and therefore makes it a command. We live in a world where everyone is after materialistic things and vain things. Society has taught us to crave after the top career, money, car husband, wife, children and influence. While these things are not bad they can be an idol if placed before God, therefore causing us to sin against God. When we seek after the things of this world we will always find ourselves wanting more and never being satisfied. When we go against God's original order of doing things, we will always find ourselves in error and lack.

When God speaks, it's always wise to listen. The things of this world can never be compared to knowing God and living for Him. Without God, everything else means nothing.

How do we truly seek God first? You ask.

First thing is to spend time in prayer, the Word of the Lord says "pray without ceasing." (Read 1 Thessalonians 5:16 - 28)

The second thing is to live a life of repentance (Read scriptures: 1 John 1:9, Proverbs 28:13, Matthew 3:2 ).

All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. However, God's desire is for us all to come to Him, to turn away from those sins whether it is to accept Him as personal Lord and Savior, or for a daily heart check even after salvation.

The third thing is to study the Word of God. Read the Bible, know the scriptures for yourself. It's easy to just listen sermons, listen to your pastor preach Sunday after Sunday. It's easy to read a cute little devotional and feed on others insight of the Word. However, God wants you to know Him for yourself. He wants you to meet Him personally through His Word, for you to know His promises and to strengthen and equip you through the Word so that you can live a perfect life in Him (Christ Jesus).

The more we spend time with God through His Word, the more our relationship with God grows and deepens.

The fourth thing I will mention is to live a consecrated life through worship, praise and thanksgiving. We are created to Worship God in spirit and in truth. Worship is not just a Sunday morning activity or a during the week routine, it's a lifestyle that should be demonstrated through our daily lives and activities. In psalms 22:3 it tells us that God inhabits the praises of His people. God is present in our praises, it's where He dwells with His people. Praise is how we enter God's court and how we draw into His presence. Psalm 100:4 "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name." God opens the gates with our thanksgiving and then He dwells with us through or praise and as He does that He begins to lift us up and take us to places we can't go on our own.

To seek God is not just to attain physical things but it's where we will begin to experience and know the mind, heart and Spirit of God.

May we never cease to seek God in all things in Jesus name Amen.
